Unlike many, I do not like stevia adulterated or “subdued” to mask the “too-much-is-bitter” taste when I inadvertently overdue sweetening. This stevia is gentle but strong; perhaps that is what 90% steviosides means. In any event, especially in cacao, maca, spiced foods and if necessary combined with a bit of ginger root to replace any hint of the licorice some people do not like.

As a diabetic, pure stevia is the best sweetener I can possibly use, since it is entirely organic and wholesome in itself. Stevia can do what agave cannot — hit the sweet button for formerly sugar-addicted people. Also, agave is significantly more active in raising blood sugar; stevia seems to be 100% neutral.

Perhaps like me you have searched for a good, true, reliable, reasonably imperishable stevia crystal. For me, this fills the bill, the price is a little high but worth it; the packet is well constructed and safe against humidity. (Posted on 4/29/2012)

I bought the 1lb pack, having calculated that as it is around 350 times sweeter than sugar, that would give me the equivalent of 350 lbs of sugar for my $40.00.. 11 cents per pound equivalent :^) I then got the calculator out and started my calculations, having bought a kids' 5 ml medicine dispenser. My aim was to create a dilution that would give me 1 mls diluted solution equivalent of 1 tsp of sugar. To achieve this I weighed 10 g of this product and added it to 700 ml water. I use the 5 ml dropper and so 1 ml of solution equals 1 teaspooonful of sugar. Being very much the creative home cook using natural ingredients, I find it works excelptionally well in iced tea, cooked fruit, fruit salad and salad dressings. I bought 15 lbs of organic lemons last year, juiced them,added 1 g Vit C per quart, and froze the juice in ice cube trays. I now take a cube from the bag, add 3 ml of stevia and top up with sparkling water.. cheap, delicious, with almost zero carbs! (Posted on 2/5/2012)
